They Have Returned
For the first time since Avengers Disassembled September will see Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man reunite in the Marvel U during the height of the Skrull invasion. IGN Comics has this interview with Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort, Secret Invasion: Revelations – Special Edition, to answer some questions about the mega cross-over event Secret Invasion. Here are some relevant quotes from the interview.
IGN Comics: We know these three characters assembling together represents something fairly significant – they haven’t worked side by side in any sort of official capacity in quite some time. Was this something Marvel was eager to return to or did this simply spring up due to Brian Bendis’ plotting?
Brevoort: It’s a moment that we’ve been building towards ever since we broke up the “Big Three” during Avengers: Disassembled. But even here, there’s a new wrinkle, in that this isn’t the same Captain America, and it’s a radically changed Thor. So while there’s a symbolic power to seeing these founding Avengers shoulder-to-shoulder, they aren’t really the same three guys, so the way these heroes interact will be somewhat different from the past. What this means for the future remains to be seen. Maybe we’ll have three Avengers books, each featuring one of these characters!
IGN Comics: Is this the real deal or is there a possibility we’re looking at one to three Skrulls here?
Brevoort: No, real deal. I figure we should come clean on this question at least once during the event.

Captain America #38 Preview
I found a gentleman who is not as thrilled about Alex Ross’ new design for Captain America’s costume. I like the new design that Ross did. You can click here and see how this particular Cap fan would redraw the costume and decide for yourself: Captain America Images by Marcusthevisual
But what I can’t wait for on Wednesday (aside from my good friend preaching at church) can be seen in the images found in this interview with Ed Brubaker, the author of the current Marvel title Captain America. A CAPTAIN AMERICA IS…AGAIN ALIVE? BRUBAKER ON CAP #37 Steve Epting is an amazing artist, plain and simple. And Captain America and the Falcon are back at it again. Almost like old times…almost.

I Know Who He Is!
The guy on the left is the legitimate Captain America, James “Bucky” Barnes. The guy on the right is the dude in question. Is it Steve Rogers or is it “Steve Rogers”? Here, Steve Rogers’ girlfriend, Sharon Carter (Agent 13) reveals all.

The Next Book I Am Going to Get…
is Richard Bauckham’s 2006 book Jesus and the Eyewitnesses: The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony. I read chapter 9 and why Papias was right to say that the primary source of the Gospel according to Mark is the apostle Peter. It was really good and the arguments are very persuasive. Based upon that chapter alone, I really recommend this book to defend the historical reliability of the four Gospels (not necessarily inerrancy).

That’s a Good Question
My cousin Henry Michael (aka Honzo at Hundie Jo [dot] Com) asks the question of the 1989 blockbuster Batman and this summer’s The Dark Knight, “Why So Similar?” Watch this video and you are forced to ask that question.
Personally, I like it!
