They Have Returned
For the first time since Avengers Disassembled September will see Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man reunite in the Marvel U during the height of the Skrull invasion. IGN Comics has this interview with Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort, Secret Invasion: Revelations - Special Edition, to answer some questions about the mega cross-over event Secret Invasion. Here are some relevant quotes from the interview.
IGN Comics: We know these three characters assembling together represents something fairly significant - they haven’t worked side by side in any sort of official capacity in quite some time. Was this something Marvel was eager to return to or did this simply spring up due to Brian Bendis’ plotting?
Brevoort: It’s a moment that we’ve been building towards ever since we broke up the “Big Three” during Avengers: Disassembled. But even here, there’s a new wrinkle, in that this isn’t the same Captain America, and it’s a radically changed Thor. So while there’s a symbolic power to seeing these founding Avengers shoulder-to-shoulder, they aren’t really the same three guys, so the way these heroes interact will be somewhat different from the past. What this means for the future remains to be seen. Maybe we’ll have three Avengers books, each featuring one of these characters!
IGN Comics: Is this the real deal or is there a possibility we’re looking at one to three Skrulls here?
Brevoort: No, real deal. I figure we should come clean on this question at least once during the event.
