A Good Day Today
I thoroughly enjoyed today. Pastor Tim’s sermon on Jesus as our sympathetic high priest was just amazing and comforting. The Lord has really blessed that man with biblical understanding and the ability to teach the text in ways that is compelling and moving. He is truly a gifted pastor-teacher that FCC cannot thank God for enough.
Today I made my second pot of gumbo. Okay actually the first time my roommate and I had the gumbo he did most of the cooking and I sat back and waited for the food to be done. Today, I did the cooking. The gumbo was really good the first time with the smoked sausage in it. Today, we used 2 lbs. of bratwurst with jalapeno peppers in it. I liked the spicier food more. I’m not being biased to my version because I cooked it, I really like the spicy food more!
On top of that, the KC Chiefs actually competed with the defending AFC champs the New England Patriots! They lost 17-10 and had the ball with less than a minute to go on the 5-yard line and only needed one play out of 4 to at least tie or win on a two-point conversion (I would have went for overtime but Herm didn’t know what he would have done in that situation and I wouldn’t blame him). I figured that the Chiefs would have gotten killed as the Pats were a 17-point favorite coming into today’s game. It was kinda sad to see Brady go down as no one wants to see someone get hurt. But at the same time it was good new for my team (and fantasy teams too!) because it gave them a better chance to succeed.
Then on top of that, I had the awesome privilege of spending this food and game with an ol’ friend of mine, Sarah. I really missed spending time with her since Iron-Man. I just didn’t know how much I missed her until I got the chance to do so again. It’s like watching WWE with my ol’ SBU buddies. I forget how much fun they are. But with Sarah, we were really close and I can’t wait until October 5 and the Chiefs vs Carolina to hang out with here again.
Finally, I read a really great article dealing with the issues of dating Philemon and Colossians at the EUANGELION blog. Check it out and enjoy. I hope that your day was a great as mine!
