I think that you differ from them in thier view of Biblical historical literalism. Both were for a spiritualized version of Genesis and Luther thought that a literal reading of the OT was worse than Catholicism.

True. But Edwards has also made a major comeback and he is the one responsible for people coming to a true understanding of the Gospel (hehehe).
