Hebrews in 5 minutes…and Mormon Apologetics
Posted by Hank on October 8th, 2008 filed in Evangelism/MissionsThe following video is a presentation by James White in a debate with a Mormon apologist. Here in 5 minutes, he summarizes the book of Hebrews (mostly Hebrews 1-10
). Which if you study Mormonism to some degree — okay you read one of their tracts — you see that the book of Hebrews is the perfect apology against Mormonism because it refutes their beliefs on priesthood and sacrifices and atonement. Watch and take notes for the time this comes up in conversation with Mormons you know or when the door bell rings and this comes up.

Hi – thank you for this post. I also enjoyed the video. I just read your About page and hope that you’ll post my comment in the interest of exchanging ideas.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a former ordinance worker in two of our temples, I find that the New Testament book of Hebrews enlarges my view of my membership of the Church and the role of the temple in my worship. In fact, as one of the Twelve Apostles said, every activity, every ordinance we participate in points to the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ and his holy temple.
In this context, I find great meaning in the book of Hebrews and its numerous references to the priesthood, the law of sacrifice, and the atonement of Christ. I believe M. Catherine Thomas wrote an excellent treatise on this in Hebrews – To Ascend the Holy Mount. You may also be interested in the numerous sources on LDS Temples for additional information about these sacred edifices. Lastly, you may want to review Who Shall Ascend Into the Hill of the Lord? Sesquicentennial Reflections of a Sacred Day: 4 May 1842 that was written in celebration of the day Joseph Smith introduced these sacred ordinances to the members of the Church.
Thank you for sharing your beliefs. I hope these comments provide you additional information that clarifies our belief in the important role of temples in our Heavenly Father.

Greg,
Thank you for you comment. Perhaps you could write a brief testimony of how Hebrews has deepened your faith. I am always interested in hearing other people’s testimonies. I find that they are a fascinating door into who a person is. If these sources are online then I might check into them. I am kind of busy with my study of the Greek and Hebrew languages–especially Hebrew. If you want, I would be happy to dialog with you here at this site or through email, it has been some time since I have conversed with Mormons and I miss it very much.
