The Best Thing He Ever Said

I am one of the few people who have really enjoyed Marvel’s Secret Invasion. I go back and read all, as of September 10, 2008, six issues, the pacing doesn’t feel as bad. There’s a couple of things that I would like to have changed. Some might still come later. New Captain America appears in the Marvel U for the first real time since he was created by Ed Brubaker back in January, 2008. I would have liked more dialogue there but what is there doesn’t really upset me.

Speaking of Bucky, I wanted to post a quote from Secret Invasion writer/creator Brian Michael Bendis about New Cap. I totally agree. If Bendis has ever said anything right, it is this in his commentary on SI: #6:

And here comes Bucky Cap immersing himself in the Marvel Universe once and for all.

Ed [Brubaker] very graciously took the leash of the character. Ed’s slowly been having him meeting with Hawkeye and meeting with Falcon and Black Widow, but really here he is making a real debut into Marvel Universe proper and meeting up with newly resurrected Thor. This is big news. And I love Bucky Cap—love Bucky Cap. I will take the Internet heat by saying that I think he’s more interesting than Steve Rogers.
